Hemsidan anpassad för mobilsurf

Holmsunds Tropikhus hemsida fungerar nu bättre för alla er som surfar nätet med er mobiltelefon. Sidan är mera lättillgänglig för webbläsare på mobiltelefonen, dock är den endast testad med Iphone och HTC Desire. Lämna gärna rapporter för andra smartphonemodeller!

Vi uppdaterar hemsidan lite grann. Emellanåt kan den se lite underlig ut men vi hoppas få en mera informativ hemsida sedan.

- Imminent extinction of Archey’s frogs – "Unfortunately, the New Zealand Government wants to make a quick buck by mining some of the beautiful New Zealand forests which are home to Archey’s frogs (Leiopelma archeyi) and Hochstetter’s frogs (Leiopelma hochstetteri). If this goes ahead then we will be able to document the extinction of two more frog species."

But in many areas there's a shortage – and even impending failure of supplies – as anti-venom stocks run short. The World Health Organization is hoping to solve the issue by launching an online snake guide, showing where the poisonous species that do the most damaged are located, and what they look like, so that antivenom can be stocked in the right places."

Dvärgskallerormar födda

Idag föddes en kull dvärgskallerormar, Sistrurus miliarius barbouri, på tropikhuset. Det är (som man hör på namnet) en liten art som dock är giftig. De föder levande ungar och flera besökare fick se dem idag på Kristi Himmelsfärds dag
